Overview
Goals and Objectives
This curriculum’s goals and objectives are aligned with the American School Counselor Association Model and California Education Code. The site is revised quarterly based on user feedback and policy changes. To provide feedback or submit materials to be included please use the form on the Contact Us page.
Three broad domains of student development guide this work: Academic, College/Career, and Social/Emotional.
ASCA’s National Model, professional competencies, ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors, ethical standards, position statements, and CA Ed Code 49600 guide the school counselors’ program, practice, and professionalism within Santa Cruz County.
The curriculum and resources on this site are designed to be Tier 1, core curriculum resource for universal supports for ALL students. A Tier 1 core program is a delivery of services that all students receive that is standards and competency-based, developmental, preventative, and proactive. See Multi-Tiered Multi-Domain Systems of Support from Hatching Results for more information.)
We encourage districts and sites to work together to develop appropriate data-driven Tier 2 & 3 supports. We further encourage districts and administrators to work with counselors to develop annual agreements around counselor assignments, use of time, professional development, communication, and performance evaluations.
